SA rugby player Makwedini’s remains return from France

The remains of South African rugby player Luqobo “Bibo” Makwedini arrived home from France on Sunday after he died earlier in July following a training session with French club AS Béziers Hérault. The 20-year-old’s remains arrived in the Eastern Cape and were taken to a funeral parlour in Quigney, KuGompo City, while funeral arrangements were finalised. Makwedini’s older brother, Sihle Makwedini, said the player would be buried on 1 August in Qumrha. SA weather service warns of snow, coastal winds

South Africa scales down Musina migrant processing centre

South Africa's Inter-Ministerial Committee on Migration said it will reduce operations at the Musina Temporary Repatriation Processing Centre in Limpopo, cutting capacity from 20,000 people to 1,500 from 1 August, after three weeks of data showed fewer undocumented foreign nationals needed processing. Vodacom cuts dividend floor after R35bn Safaricom deal

The case stems from the 2020 theft of $580,000 hidden in furniture at Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala game farm in Limpopo. Western Cape police arrest suspect in DA candidate’s murder
