Epic returns Fortnite to App Store outside Australia

Google launches $100 AI Ultra subscription tier

Sony launched the 1000X The Collexion, also identified as WH-1000XX in some listings, as a premium 10th-anniversary addition to its 1000X noise-cancelling headphone line, rather than a direct replacement for the WH-1000XM6. Google and Samsung preview Android XR smart glasses

Google and Samsung previewed Android XR-based smart glasses at Google I/O 2026, showing audio-only eyewear designed with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster for a fall launch. The glasses integrate Google’s Gemini assistant and use microphones, speakers and cameras, but they have no displays in the lenses. The companies described the glasses as a way to handle phone-linked tasks through voice and AI when pulling out a handset is inconvenient, including navigation, messages, media, capture and translation. Product names, pricing and detailed market availability were not announced. Google distinguished the first audio models from future “display glasses.” Android Authority reported that full display glasses are not due before the end of 2026 and that developers will get access to XREAL’s tethered Project Aura later this year. PCMag reported that Project Aura uses Android XR and includes a built-in OLED display.

Google launches Gemini agents and AI Search overhaul

Google used its I/O 2026 developer conference on May 19 to announce a broad expansion of Gemini across Search, Workspace and consumer AI products, led by the new Gemini 3.5 model family and the Gemini 3.5 Flash release. Google said Gemini 3.5 Flash is rolling out globally as the default model for the Gemini app and Google Search’s AI Mode, and described it as faster and stronger on coding and agentic tasks than earlier models. The company also announced an AI-driven Search redesign with a larger search box, support for multimodal inputs such as images, files, videos and Chrome tabs, and information agents that can monitor topics or commercial data in the background. Gemini Spark, a cloud-based personal agent, will start with trusted testers and then roll out more broadly to Google AI Ultra subscribers, with connections to Gmail, Docs and other Google services for tasks such as drafting emails, summarizing information and monitoring inboxes. Google introduced Gemini Omni Flash, which generates and edits video from text, audio, images and video, starting in the Gemini app, Flow and YouTube Shorts Remix for eligible users. Workspace updates include Gmail Live for voice-based inbox search, Docs Live and Keep voice features, and Google Pics for prompt-based design and image editing.
